Mar 26, 9:12 PMVrindavan bhawan is the worst PG one can stay at. I'm speaking from my personal experience here. During the lockdown in March 2020, I like all others went back to my hometown. I continued to pay the rent for the entire lockdown period till the month of Dec 20 even though I never even stayed there for a single day. The managers charged me initially the full rent and after negotiation they told me to pay 60%. I have sincerely paid the rent for all the months on time without any delay. The PG owners here take rent at the start of the month and keep posting rent due messages from 1st of every month. The due date to pay is the 4th of the month. They even charge penalty and interest for late payment by even a day.
In the month of December I found it unreasonable to continue occupying the room which I haven't used in the last 8 months hence I travelled to bangalore to vacate the PG. To my utter shock, I saw that my cupboard lock was broken and on enquiry I found out that this happened in the month of May when my roommate had vacated and due to some confusion they broke open my door lock instead of her's. I wasn't informed for 8 months of this situation. I had my valuables locked in the cupboard which was at risk for 8 months of being stolen. I was shocked. On further search I noticed that many of my belongings were missing such as expensive clothes, bags, even plate, mug, spoons etc. When I complained to the manager, they give me no answer. They say that they tried to contact me when the door lock was broken and I didn't respond which is so absurd since I didn't receive any call from thier end nor a message. After this incident I kept on paying the rent, yet no one informed me of this situation.
I decided to leave the PG, so the manager asked me to drop an intimation email. I did so promptly. They decided to charge me rent for a few days in January due to 1 month intimation to be given before leaving. I was shocked again. I requested them to waive off the rent since I had lost so many of my valuables as well as I had paid the rent for the entire month of December in advance. They didn't give me any response even over email if my request was accepted. I wrote them emails over emails, tried contacting the manager from the last 3 months. The answer that I got on the rare occasion that they picked my call was that, they have asked the team to process the payment and I will get it on a particular date. Dates came and went, but I didn't get my money back. I contacted the owner directly and she told me that my money was withheld because I didn't clear the dues of January. I was appalled at her reply. They didn't even have the courtesy to inform me this 2 months ago that it was on hold, they just kept playing around with me and deferring the date of payment. They had no answer when I claimed compensation for loss of my belongings. They did not budge.
Hence from my experience I would like to say, that the pg charges very high rent for a simple room, the food quality isn't so great and they make a fuss to pay back the security deposit. So make sure you think twice before you decide to stay here. I just thought I should share my experience so that no one else faces this situation.
